4:00 PM
Sunset walk at Veterans Oasis Park
Drive 15 minutes to the 113-acre preserve. Walk the Solar System pathway around the lake—it's a 2,500-foot scale model of our solar system that creates organic conversation. Watch for herons, ducks, and the occasional roadrunner.
5:30 PM
Optional stargazing
Veterans Oasis hosts Star Parties with telescopes provided by the Astronomy Association of Arizona (check chandleraz.gov for scheduled dates). If no Star Party tonight, the park's dark skies still offer quality stargazing—bring a blanket and the Sky Map app.
7:30 PM
Firepit tapas at The Brickyard
Drive 15 minutes back to downtown Chandler. Settle into the outdoor firepit with shared plates—diver scallops, pork belly, baked brie. The warmth of the fire continues the cozy vibe from the park.
9:30 PM
Speakeasy close at The Ostrich
Walk 3 minutes to the basement speakeasy. The dim lighting and fireplace match the trajectory of the evening. One or two classic cocktails, then a clean exit home.
Weather turns bad
Skip the park entirely. Start early at The Perch (covered rooftop) or Vision Gallery (10 E Chicago St, free) for an indoor culture alternative, then continue to dinner.
Running late at the park
Skip stargazing. Head straight to The Brickyard—you'll still arrive hungry and relaxed from the walk.
The Brickyard is full
Try Craft 64 (54 S San Marcos Pl) for wood-fired pizza and local beer, or The Hidden House for a more upscale pivot.
Too tired for speakeasy
End at The Brickyard. Grab dessert or one more drink there, then call it. Two stops is still a complete date.
