Lingering stretches the moment. A clean exit prevents the awkward "doorway drift" and keeps care visible until everyone is home.

The Sequence

The Pre-Signal

Don't spring the end on them. Mention the exit time about 20 minutes out. 'Let's aim for 11:00 so we beat the surge.'

The Ride Check

Open the rideshare app *before* you leave the venue. Confirm the pickup spot together while you still have Wi-Fi and light.

The Clean Goodbye

One warm line, one consent check ('You good?'), and a physical anchor (hug or handshake). Then move. Don't loiter.

The Ping

The loop isn't closed until they are safe. Send the text within 30 minutes: 'Home safe?'

The Scripts

Pivot

If the energy shifts or someone feels unsafe, cut the protocol. Call the ride immediately, stay with them until the car arrives, and prioritize safety over politeness.
